Uniting the UK HEMS pilot community
Connecting air ambulance pilots across the UK. We provide a collective voice to inform industry standards, elevate operational safety, and support pilots through mentorship and recruitment.
What we do
The HEMS Pilot Network works to unite a historically fragmented group of professionals piloting HEMS and air ambulance operations in the UK.
Providing a unified, independent platform of pilot interests to operators, charities and regulatory bodies.
Collective voice
Representing HEMS pilots directly to industry bodies, operators, and regulators to shape policy.
Safety insights
Sharing vital operational data, flight safety intelligence, and best practices across teams.
Careers & recruitment
Connecting aspiring aviators and experienced pilots with leading UK HEMS operator roles.
Pilot mentorship
Supporting the next generation of air medical pilots through tailored professional guidance.

About us
HEMS Pilots have told us that they often feel isolated within regional air ambulance charities and operators. That there is no collective voice, especially within small operators.
We, a small group of HEMS pilots, have established the HEMS Pilot Network to unify our professional community across the UK.
By coming together, we can share critical knowledge and opinion, drive operational and safety improvements, support careers via mentorship for those at every stage of their career.
Collectively, our combined voice can be strong and provide a sense of belonging to the wider industry.
Elevating operations and safety
We are committed to gathering a real-world voice to inform industry and influence day to day operations and advocate for UK HEMS.
We aim to make a positive contribution to flight safety and provide support for peers via mentoring
"Having a central network for UK HEMS pilots is invaluable. It gives us a platform to discuss operational and safety challenges openly with peers from other units, building best practice."
Air Ambulance Captain
"The mentorship scheme should provide real guidance on flying with UK Helicopter emergency medical services. The industry pilot shortage means we need a proactive approach"
HEMS Training Captain
"An essential initiative for the sector. A unified voice from those who have 'boots on the ground' allows us to engage constructively with industry stakeholders and regulators."

HEMS Pilot Network
We are a collaborative project, supported by current and retired HEMS pilots from across the UK involved in different operational areas. As such there isn't a single home base or area of ownership.
